Video: Wilson’s Barnsley hit by Winnall injury blow

Danny Wilson has revealed in-form striker Sam Winnall is out for up to a month with a hamstring strain.

Winnall, the summer signing from Scunthorpe, pulled up with the injury just 22 minutes into Barnsley’s defeat against his former club on Saturday.

Winnall has scored nine goals for the Reds, including five in League One.

Wilson said: “He’ll go for a scan tomorrow on the hamstring now it’s settled down a little bit.

“It looks at the moment in time that it’s going to be three to four weeks minimum, unless it’s a minor miracle.

“That’s the nature of the game, it happens when you least expect it and when you least want it. It was quite innocuous as well, as you find with these types of injury.

“Hopefully it won’t affect us too much.”
