BARNSLEY striker Sam Winnall has revealed he is seeking a re-run of his dream 2013-14 campaign with Scunthorpe United in the colours of the Reds this term.

Winnall has arrived at Oakwell with a predatory reputation, having hit 23 goals in the Iron’s promotion to League One last season as he topped the divisional scoring charts in League Two.

Now the ex-Wolves man, who has joined Barnsley for an initial £250,000, is hoping to back up with another promotion and goalscoring gong, this time for Danny Wilson’s side.

Speaking to the Yorkshire Post, Winnall, in line for his Reds debut at home to Crawley tomorrow, said: “I am really excited by the challenge and raring to go.

“I’ve got to try and replicate last season. A promotion and a golden boot was a dream come true really. I just want to do as well as possible and it will end up exactly the same with the team getting promoted and me getting a few calls.”

Winnall was the subject of interest from a number of clubs before opting for Barnsley, which he says was a straightforward decision.

He added: “To be honest, it took my eye the most and obviously with the club having just come down from the Championship and with the aspirations Ben (Mansford) and the gaffer put in front of me, it was quite an easy choice in the end.

“I had another year left on my contract at Scunthorpe and in the summer, I would have been available on a Bosman and I think it worked out well for all parties to come here.”
