WATCH: Self-belief strong at Barnsley as they look to avoid drop

BARNSLEY head coach Jose Morais insists that this players still retain the necessary fight and belief in their Championship mission - despite being on the brink of relegation.

Two successive away-day losses have left third-from-bottom Barnsley on the precipice and they will be relegated if they lose to weekend opponents Brentford - chasing a play-off spot - and Bolton Wanderers win at Burton.

Ahead of two games which possess the look of ‘must-win fixtures’, with Barnsley visiting Derby County on the final day, the Reds’ recent record of three victories in 30 matches does not inspire hope but, for Morais, it is a case of ‘never-say-die’.

“We still have to believe in the possibilities we have, even if it is not in our hands,” said Morais. “We are depending on other results and it depends on us winning our games. And according to our results, we will see.

“Definitely, we believe we have to fight and we are going to fight in the next game. This is what we are here for.”

Lloyd Isgrove remains sidelined and will be assessed next week to see whether he could be involved in the Reds’ final-day trip to Derby County.

Matt Mills (back), who was not involved in Tuesday’s loss at the City Ground, will also miss Saturday’s must-win game.

Adam Jackson, who returned to the side in midweek, still has ‘some issues’ according to Morais, but he expects him to be fine for the weekend appointment with the Bees.

Jack Walton is favourite to remain in goal following his efforts on Tuesday after being brought in for Adam Davies with Morais ‘totally confident’ in his credentials.
