West Bromwich Albion 1 Barnsley 1: Breckin bemoans late strike from Dorrans

BARNSLEY assistant manager John Breckin described the manner of promoted West Bromwich Albion's stoppage-time equaliser as "a knife through the heart".

The midfielder secured a draw for promoted Albion with Barnsley with virtually the last kick of the game.

Dorrans was the subject of a 4m bid from West Ham last Tuesday, which was swiftly rebuffed by Albion chairman Jeremy Peace.

Hugo Colace had seemingly sent Barnsley on their way to an unlikely triumph courtesy of his 59th-minute goal.

"We're disappointed with the goal, especially with it being the last kick of the game," said Breckin . "But the lads have put on a great show, we played well.

"We're really pleased with our performance."

Breckin and manager Mark Robins arrived at Oakwell back in September with the Tykes at the foot of the table.

Having turned the club's fortunes around to flirt with the play-off places before eventually finishing 18th, Breckin believes the campaign can be deemed a success, and he is optimistic ahead of a busy summer of transfer activity.

"We're now looking forward to the summer to rebuild," he said. "We've got plenty of players on the radar and there will be a lot more players. Mark's in talks with players already, we're not going to let the grass grow under our feet."
