Wolves v Huddersfield: Newcomer Holt may get start as Town aim to follow up

Much has changed since that early December win at Bolton Wanderers, a result that actually came on the back of two other victories and was enough to propel the Terriers up to 10th place.

Robins, for instance, has gone and Town are no longer looking up excitedly at the top six but nervously down at the relegation zone.

Still, of the 13 players on duty at the Reebok on December 3 last year, only Oliver Norwood has left so clearly the club’s recent troubles cannot be put down solely to personnel.

The weekend win at home to Millwall was the club’s first at the John Smith’s Stadium since March.

It means Huddersfield travel to Wolverhampton Wanderers tonight looking to claim back-to-back wins which have proved so elusive.

Jonathan Hogg said: “This is now a massive game.

“We have to go to Wolves full of confidence after beating Millwall.

“Back-to-back wins can change everything for us so we will be going there to work our socks off and, hopefully, get the result we need.”

Saturday’s victory over the Lions not only ended a winless run for Town in front of their own fans that had stood at 11 games, but it also took new manager Chris Powell’s men out of the bottom three.

The Terriers recently appointed chief was delighted with several of his players against Millwall with Nahki Wells, substitute Sean Scannell and Harry Bunn all coming in for praise.

Special mention was also made yesterday by Powell of Grant Holt, the striker who arrived on loan from Wigan late on Friday.

The former Norwich and Nottingham Forest forward impressed in a half-hour cameo from the bench.

Asked if he might be tempted to start Holt tonight, Powell said: “It is a possibility. I brought him here to show he can still do it.

“You have to look at everything that has gone on at Wigan Athletic. For 25 minutes, he did the job on Saturday but, hopefully, he can do that for 90 minutes.

“The only way to do that is to play. The adrenaline will kick in.

“I hope that he follows up what he did on Saturday to show he is a player at this level to do him justice and win us games.”
