York boss McNamara plotting to delay Northampton's League Two title charge

WITH nine straight wins to their name and a 10-point lead at the top of League Two, Northampton Town's crowning as champions seems a case of when rather than if.

One of those victories came just 18 days ago against York City so there can be no doubting the size of the task facing Jackie McNamara’s men tonight, especially as injury means the leaders will be facing a makeshift back four.

However, with nine points having been taken from their last three home games at Bootham Crescent, the Scot believes York will also go into the game on a high.

“I want three points,” said the York chief.

“We are at home and our home form has been good.

“We went down there a few weeks ago and did some good things in the game.

“Even with 10 men, we passed the ball properly.

“They are a good side that will be full of confidence. They are top of the league for a reason, but we have done well at home lately and need to get the crowd behind us again.”

Luke Hendrie will return at right-back after serving a three-game ban, while Kyle Cameron should slot in on the other flank in place of the injured Femi Ilesanmi (hamstring).

Dave Winfield and Lubomir Satka will be in the centre.
