York City 0 Barrow 0: Victory still proving elusive for York

YORK CITY had to be satisfied with a point for the third time in four games but could count themselves unlucky not to beat Barrow.

Peter Till came closest to scoring with a late shot which was deflected against the woodwork.

The home side had much the better of the first half with Djoumine Sangare having a header saved at the far post from a Chris Carruthers cross. York battled away with Michael Gash having a shot charged down and Jonathan Smith shooting over from the rebound.

York missed a golden opportunity to go ahead after 12 minutes when Richard Brodie went clear but he was unable to convert.

There were Barrow appeals for a penalty when James Meredith clashed with James Owen but the referee brushed them aside.

Mark Boyd was only inches away with a cracking 25-yard shot for Barrow.

Alex Lawless had a shot saved and had another deflected for a corner as Barrow defended doggedly.
