York City 1 Lincoln City 1: Veteran Jon Parkin earns Minstermen point at Lincoln

YORK City denied Lincoln a ninth straight victory in the top-v-bottom clash at Sincil Bank.

The Minstermen secured a draw and even led through Jon Parkin before Alan Power’s second-half equaliser gave the FA Cup quarter-finalists a share of the spoils.

York made the early running with Asa Hall firing wide from 25 yards before Parkin opened the scoring with his ninth goal of the season on 14 minutes.

The 35-year-old guided a low 10-yard shot beyond a diving Paul Farman following Simon Heslop’s low cross from the right.

Moments later, Adriano Moke might have doubled the visitors’ lead, but curled a 15-yard shot straight at Farman.

At the other end, Lincoln threatened little with Power’s firm drive their best first-half effort and York keeper Kyle Letheren was equal to it.

The second half saw a hat-trick of chances for left-winger Josh Ginnelly. He fired the first wide, sidefooted wastefully over with the second and forced Letheren into a fingertip save with the third.

Joe Ward also tested Lethern with a 15-yard shot before Lincoln levelled on 76 minutes when Matt Rhead headed down a Ginnelly cross and Power pounced from six yards. The visitors kept their composure, though, to safeguard their point.
