York City 2 Altincham 1: Brodie spot on

A dramatic injury-time penalty from Richard Brodie saw York City beat Altrincham 2-1 to put themselves on the brink of the play-offs.

York, who have gained 13 points from their last five games, had to battle back from being a goal down to the Cheshire part-timers who were the better team in the first half.

York dropped behind to Chris Denham's 63rd-minute lob which deceived Michael Ingham, but the arrival of Michael Rankine and Alex Lawless two minutes later changed the game.

The home side equalised controversially on 68 minutes, Courtney Pitt crossing for David McGurk to bundle the ball home after Stuart Coburn had failed to clear under a strong challenge from Rankine.

Then in the second minute of added time Brodie, who had earlier been denied what seemed a clear penalty when pulled down by Robbie Williams, was tripped by Greg Young, allowing him to rocket home a spot kick into the top corner.
