York City sorry to see Michael Coulson head for exit door

YORK CITY admit to having been left 'surprised and disappointed' by Michael Coulson's decision to leave Bootham Crescent at the end of the season after signing a pre-contract agreement to join Scottish side St Johnstone.

The 27-year-old, whose deal is due to expire in the summer, has made 126 appearances for the League Two strugglers.

A statement read: “York City are surprised and disappointed to learn that Michael Coulson has signed a pre-contract with St Johnstone.

“The club is particularly disconcerted with the timing of the announcement and hopes that Michael Coulson is still committed to his current employer and is focused on York City’s fight for Football League survival.”

Coulson, a key player for the Yorkshire club, moved to Bootham Crescent from Grimsby Town following York’s return to the Football League in 2012.
