Fixtures 2015-16: Tough opener for Minstermen as Wilcox aims higher

YORK CITY will hit the road to beaten League Two play-off finalists Wycombe Wanderers in a tough looking 2015-16 opener on August 8.

The Minstermen start what is likely to be their last-ever campaign at Bootham Crescent with an attractive home fixture with Ronnie Moore’s Hartlepool United on August 15, in front of a sizeable home crowd, swelled by a sizeable travelling support from the north-east.

Russ Wilcox’s side face long road trips to Exeter (August 22), Newport (September 5) and Stevenage (September 12) and welcome Carlisle United on September 19 - with York handed a number of considerable journeys in the first half of the season.

Further trips to the south follow to Luton (October 10), Barnet (October 17), Crawley (October 31), Leyton Orient (November 21) and Portsmouth (November 24).

York welcome Northampton on Boxing Day and end 2015 at Mansfield - with their first home game of 2016 being Exeter on January 9.

For City’s two final home games of 2015-16, the club face Portsmouth on April 19 and play host to Bristol Rovers on April 30, in what could be an historic final ever clash at Bootham Crescent, play-offs permitting.

York end the season at Morecambe on May 7.
