Gossip Column: Premier League side chase Leeds left-back, Canaries want York’s Godfrey, Liverpool keen on £4m-rated Huddersfield loanee

With the transfer window only two days from opening, here is the latest transfer gossip involving Yorkshire’s clubs:

Charlie Taylor is the subject of interest from Crystal Palace, according to the Guardian. The Leeds United left-back has been exceptional in the Championship this season and is entering the last year and a half of his contract at Elland Road. He recovered from glandular fever in the space of a month and has been an ever-present since regaining fitness.

York City midfielder Ben Godfrey has been linked with a move to Norwich City. The York Press suggests he has turned down a second offer to sign professional terms with the Minstermen. Godfrey has also been interesting West Brom, Cardiff City and Hull City over the last month.

Liverpool could make a £4 million bid for Ben Chilwell, who is currently on loan at Huddersfield Town, according to the Telegraph. Even if a move for him is not successful, parent club Leicester City are expected to recall Chilwell from his spell at the John Smith’s Stadium in January.

Leicester City’s Dean Hammond has asked Claudio Ranieri to let him move to Sheffield United permanently or at least until the end of the season. However, the Sheffield Star report that he admits the decision is ultimately up to both clubs.
