Morrison sings Town praises to persuade Church

The Terriers snapped up the Reading forward yesterday on an initial one-month loan deal amid concerns over the extent of a thigh injury suffered by James Vaughan.

Both Vaughan and fellow loanee Jermaine Beckford have missed the last two Town games, prompting Simon Grayson to make an approach to Royals counterpart Brian McDermott earlier this week.

Church said: “I have been waiting since the start of the season to go out on loan. I knew that my chances at Reading were going to be limited this year.

“I worked hard and did well in pre-season, but I knew it was going to be difficult. It has been frustrating, especially as I knew that Huddersfield were interested. It has been a case of just waiting and now that I am here, I can’t wait to get going.”

Church, who made more than 30 appearances for Reading last term as the Berkshire club won the Championship title, added: “Sean Morrison (now with Reading) said a lot of good things about the manager, the club, the players and the fan base.

“So I had been watching Town’s results during the course of the season and they have done really well.”

York City have signed Aldershot striker Alex Rodman on loan until January.

The 25-year-old links up with Minstermen manager Gary Mills for a second time after the pair had a couple of years together at Tamworth.

Rodman has been at the Recreation Ground since the start of last year, but he has fallen out of favour over the past month with his last action being in a 3-0 home defeat to Rotherham United on October 20.

Mills, who tried to sign Rodman when he first took over at Bootham Crescent, said: “Alex can play down the left, right or through the centre and I think he will fit in nicely to how we like to play.”

Elsewhere in League Two, Bradford City have set ticket prices for next month’s Capital One Cup quarter-final against Arsenal.

City’s first appearance in the last eight in almost a quarter of a century will see season ticket holders and flexi-card holders given priority for the December 11 tie. Both can buy two tickets at a special price of £20 each for adults, £15 concessions (full-time students and over-60s) and £10 for under-16s.

A voucher promotion involving the home games against Plymouth and Exeter City will then be used to decide the second phase of priority with any remaining tickets for the tie to go on general sale at a cost of £25 adults, £20 concessions and £15 for juniors.
