Nigel Worthington saw the remarkable rise of his York City side continue with victory at Portsmouth in League Two.

It was not long ago, City were flirting with the relegation places, but after Michael Coulson gave York a 1-0 win on the south coast, the Minstermen are now in the play-off places.

Coulson fired home an impressive low volley beyond Pompey goalkeeper Trevor Carson.

York goalkeeper Nick Pope kept his side in front, denying a header from Ryan Taylor and Jed Wallace’s effort.

Pompey played the majority of the second half with 10 men when Ben Chorley was shown a red card for a bad challenge on Wes Fletcher.
