Pressure’s on Fleetwood says York’s Russ Penn

YORK CITY captain Russ Penn insists the play-off pressure is on opponents Fleetwood Town - while imploring the Minstermen to come racing out of the starting blocks tomorrow night.

The second leg takes place at the Highbury Stadium, with the Lancastrians in the box seat after a 1-0 success at Bootham Crescent in Monday night’s rescheduled League One semi-final first-leg.

A goal from former York favourite Matty Blair proved the difference on a night when York produced a inhibited attacking display for the first hour before rallying in the last thirty minutes.

Adamant York are still very much in the tie, Penn told the Yorkshire Post: “They have the lead and they will try and play that (pressure) down and we go there having to win the game and that’s all that needs to be said.

“It’s half-time in the leg and ar 1-0 down, it’s the narrowest of margins and we’ll go there and hopefully keep our away record going.

“We need to start the game better and really take the game to them.”
