Worthington determined his Minstermen will not be affected by trio of late setbacks

AS disappointed as Nigel Worthington was to see his side concede a trio of stoppage-time goals last week, the York City chief is adamant there will be no psychological hangover.

The Minstermen were left with a distinct feeling of déjà vu on Saturday when denied a deserved victory by a ‘94th-minute’ equaliser from Northampton Town.

A week earlier, York had suffered an identical fate at Tranmere Rovers, and the League Two outfit were also knocked out of the Capital One Cup by a ‘91st-minute’ strike by Doncaster Rovers’ Harry Forrester.

Ahead of tonight’s game with promoted Cambridge United at Bootham Crescent, Worthington replied: “It is something we have to learn from.

“Our performance, once again, had been excellent and I felt we deserved to win the game.

“But we didn’t and we have to move on. I know what people will be saying after we conceded late on three times in a week, but it won’t affect us or make the players anxious in the future.

“You will probably never see it happen three times to a team again so we move on and focus on Cambridge.”

Wes Fletcher’s return after five months out was a bright spot for York, but the striker is likely to start on the bench again tonight.
