York allow defender Carlisle to go out on loan

York City have allowed centre-half Clarke Carlisle to join League Two rivals Northampton Town on loan until January 3.

The ex-Leeds United defender, 33, joined the Minstermen on a short-term deal at the end of August and featured in 14 games.

However, Carlisle was left out of Saturday’s 2-2 draw at Port Vale with this move imminent and manager Gary Mills is confident of coping without the former QPR star.

Clarke knows Northampton well having made 18 appearances for them while on loan from Burnley last season.

Leeds United’s Dominic Poleon and Zac Thompson have had their loan deals extended with Bury.

They have been on loan with the League One strugglers for the past month and will stay at Gigg Lane until January 3.

Striker Poleon has been an ever-present for Bury since the move making eight appearances and scoring twice. Midfielder Thompson scored on his debut but was sent off in their next game, earning a three-match ban, and limited to just five matches.

Leeds have included a
24-hour recall clause in the loan agreement.
