York City 2 Mansfield Town 1: City maintain their promotion push

York City fought back in magnificent style to gain their eighth successive home win and keep up their challenge for a promotion play-off place.

Mansfield deserved their interval lead but the arrival of substitute Jamie Reed sparked a York revival, Reed equalising three minutes after coming on and then scoring the winner.

Danny Racchi, who came in for the injured Ashley Chambers was close to putting York ahead in the first minute, his 25-yard free kick being well saved by David Grof.

It was no surprise when the visitors took a 27th-minute lead following a mistake by Ingham as Tom Naylor’s header proved too hot to handle.

York resumed strongly and Rankine shot wide before Reed equalised in the 59th minute with a fine low shot on the turn following Rankine’s pass.

Rankine then made a strong run and saw his fierce shot tipped against the bar by Grof and the ball rebounded to Peter Till who put in a perfect pass across the face of goal for Reed to score to seal the win.
