You're a sore loser '“ former Rotherham United man Arnason slams Ronaldo

FORMER ROTHERHAM UNITED defender Kari Arnason has branded Cristiano Ronaldo '˜a sore loser' after Portugal's draw with outsiders Iceland in Euro 2016 in St Etienne on Tuesday night.

The Scandinavians battled back from an interval deficit to claim a plucky 1-1 draw with the Portuguese, with Real Madrid superstar Ronaldo scathing of their tactics afterwards - claiming that Iceland had a ‘small mentality’.

But a number of Iceland players have rounded on Ronaldo, including Arnason, with the Malmo player having three memorable years with the Millers and helping the club to back-to-back promotions in 2012-13 and 2013-14.

On the comments of Ronaldo, Arnason, now 33, said: ‘It makes it even sweeter when he’s a sore loser like that.

“I mean, he can say whatever he wants. He didn’t really get a chance today, he got one and he couldn’t put it away. What can I say? Sore loser. Tough s***.

“He’s a fantastic footballer but he’s not a gracious human being and the thing is we almost nicked the win so him saying we weren’t going for the win contradicts that.

“We got a draw and could have nicked it. Obviously we’re not going to create as much chances as a fantastic team like Portugal but his comments are the reason why [Lionel] Messi is always going to be one step ahead of him.”
