YP Letters: Football hooligans are like escaped zoo animals

IF ever I felt the urge to observe wild animals, a reputable zoo would be the obvious venue to visit.

There is, however, an alternative and that would be to attend certain football matches where the antics of mindless and undisciplined hooligans can be seen behaving as if they had just escaped from their confined cages.

IS it just me who finds the arrogance of the BBC intolerable in showing football on prime-time BBC1 fortwo-and-a-half hours every night? Most of the games do not even involve British teams. How I long for those days when summer meant Test Match cricket, even on the BBC.

TOM Richmond (The Yorkshire Post, June 11) is so right – it is shameful that the England side can’t go to Thiepval and pay their respects to who fell in the Battle of the Somme a century ago.
