ROTHERHAM UNITED remain at the head of the pack in our latest Power Rankings - as they have done for a fair while this Spring - as we head into the penultimate weekend of the season.

There is movement elsewhere with Bradford City, Leeds United, Hull City and FC Halifax Town among the risers - and, obviously, a fair few fallers too.

Here are the latest rankings.

What can you say? Eleven games unbeaten since February 23; the Millers’ best run at this level since some heady days under Emlyn Hughes in 1982 and safety in the bag. What a wonderful spring under that wily old fox in Neil Warnock, who saw his side clinch their Championship place at the weekend with a 0-0 draw at Wolves, their fourth clean sheet in the past five on the road in the second tier.

2: Barnsley WLWDWD (=)

The redoubtable Reds chiselled out a derby point to all but end Sheffield United’s top-six League One quest in a hard-fought 0-0 weekend draw at Bramall Lane and it ultimately proved a valuable one on a day when play-off rivals Gillingham surprisingly lost at home to struggling Shrewsbury, with Paul Heckingbottom’s side now a point clear of the chasing pack in sixth and occupying the final play-off spot.

The Reds have lost just once in their past nine outings in all competitions and haven’t lost in their past seven away league outings. Consistency of the right variety.

3: Bradford City WWWDLW (+1)

A powerhouse second-half performance was just the ticket for City, as they vanquished memories of a frustrating week with a bumper home win over high-flying Walsall - with James Hanson unplayable on the day en route to a fine hat-trick as the hosts recorded their biggest home win since September 2013.

City are now five points clear of seventh-placed Gillingham, while they emphatically answered the charge that they don’t score enough goals by finding the net four times. They couldn’t have picked a perfect moment to do so.

The season may be over as a competitive entity, but fair play to Leeds - who aren’t on the beach like a number of their mid-table rivals across the country. Now four unbeaten and picked up a spirited and commendable point at Hull at the weekend - and are spying the top ten and are eyeing their biggest points haul at this level since 2010-11; they need four more in their past two games to achieve that feat.

5: Middlesbrough WWWWDD (-2)

In a tense three-way battle for automatic promotion, Boro blinked in a frustrating weekend home draw with Ipswich, while rivals Brighton and Burnley both won. The result leaves Boro with little margin for error ahead of a tricky televised away date at Birmingham on Friday, with St Andrew’s not being the Teessiders’ happiest hunting ground.

6: Hull City LDWWDW (+2)

With play-off participation nailed down, Hull are now focusing all their energies on momentum building. A comfortable midweek win over Brentford, following the weekend derby draw with Leeds, was a step in the right direction, with Steve Bruce also managing to rest a few key players ahead of what looks likely to be a play-off semi-final with Derby barring something remarkable happening. The Tigers are now unbeaten in five.

7: Huddersfield Town LLDWDD (-1)

After the midweek derby draw at Rotherham, Town had to settle for another at home to Birmingham, taking their run of draws to three in the past four games - and one win in their past six matches.

8: Sheffield Wednesday WWLDDD (-1)

Another side quick on the draw at the minute with three on the spin, although a 1-1 result at play-off rivals Derby at the weekend was nothing to be sniffed at - and a draw would suffice in their big weekend game against Cardiff to confirm play-off participation.

9: FC Halifax Town WLLLDW (+2)

Produced a massive bonus-ball victory at Forest Green at the weekend at a massively timely juncture to give their survival hopes a huge boost ahead of the final game of the season against visiting Macclesfield. It’s now in the Shaymen’s hands - as they reside out of the drop zone. Beat the Silkmen and Jim Harvey’s side are safe.

10: Sheffield United LWDWWD (-1)

On a day when they realistically knew that only a win would do to keep their flickering play-off frame alive, the Blades failed to get over the line in keeping with a season in which consistency has been sporadic. Close, but likely to be no cigar.

11: Doncaster Rovers LDLWDW (+1)

A second superb home performance on the spin in the weekend win over Coventry was eye-catching in the extreme, but ultimately left many Rovers fans muttering out loud: ‘Why didn’t we produce this display earlier?’ Three without defeat and seven points from the last nine, but Rovers still on a bit of a wing and prayer regarding safety. But while there’s hope.

12: Guiseley DDLWLL (-2)

Saturday could not have got any worse for Guiseley after a 1-0 defeat at big relegation rivals Boreham Wood, luck turning against them with a non-penalty award and chances spurned on a day when their rivals won.

Now safety is not in the hands of the Lions, who have dropped into the bottom four of the National League and they must beat Torquay and rely on others to falter in order to somehow survive

13: York City LDDDWL (=)

Down and out, with a sorry, tortuous campaign now, thankfully, having just two games to go, with relegation confirmed after a weekend loss at Accrington.
