The Team Sky rider, who could line up alongside compatriot and 2012 Tour champion Sir Bradley Wiggins this summer, has recently been training in Tenerife in preparation for the Tour de France.

Froome will be one of nearly 200 cyclists to ride from The Headrow in Leeds when the 190km stage one race rolls into action on July 5 and heads for Harrogate. Riders will power out of Leeds towards Harewood before riding through the Wharfe Valley, into the Dales and down through Ripley and Ripon to the Harrogate finish.

Tour cyclists will then ride from York to Sheffield on Sunday, July 6, to complete the Yorkshire legs of the Grand Depart.
