Fulbright provides some welcome relief

The Middleham trainer, who saddles Licence To Till in this afternoon’s John Smith’s Cup on Knavesmire, said: “The horses haven’t been running well – we’ve had a lot of coughing and a lot of skin and foot infections which are probably because of the bad weather.

“This horse has been an exception, we’ve kept him on the go and he always runs well.

Racing comes thick and fast at this time of year so you’ve just got to keep him entered up.”

A frenetic afternoon of Flat racing also features the Weatherbys Super Sprint at Newbury where Hototo will look to frank his Royal Ascot win for North Yorkshire trainer Kevin Ryan and jockey Phil Makin.

David Brown’s lightly-weighted Satsuma, co-owned by South Yorkshire show-jumper James Hughes and seventh in the Queen Mary at Royal Ascot, will have each-way claims if she handles the testing conditions.

Waterlogging has forced the abandonment of tomorrow’s NH fixture at Perth. Four races due to be run on the turf at Lingfield on Wednesday have been abandoned, with four new races re-prgrammed.
