Alwoodley’s Kirsty Beckwith takes seventh place in English Girls’ Open and Cleckheaton’s Olivia Hamilton third in Under-16s

ALWOODLEY’S Kirsty Beckwith placed seventh in the English Girls’ Open Amateur Stroke Play championship at Sheringham.

Beckwith carded rounds of 74 75 77 77 and would have been in the top five but for three shots being shed in her last two holes.

Laura Morrison (Garforth) tied 16th (76 78 81 77) and Ganstead Park’s Abigail Smee shared 19th place (77 82 80 75).

The title went to Emily Toy (Carlyon Bay) with scores of 71 73 72 72.

Cleckheaton’s Olivia Hamilton finished third in the English Girls’ Under-14 Open Amateur championship at Royal Cromer.

Hamilton shot 75 79 75 78 in an event won comfortably by Cloe Frankish (Chart Hills) who returned 73 74 72 75.

Megan Clarke, also Cleckheaton, was tied 1oth (82 78 72 78) and Lightcliffe’s Georgia Holden 18th (82 76 81 77).
