Barclay Brown will look to retain North of England crown

HALLAMSHIRE’S Barclay Brown, recent winner of the Sheffield Open Amateur Championship, will defend the North of England Under-14 Championship at South Moor in County Durham next month.

The host club, whose course was designed by the creator of Augusta, Dr Alister MacKenzie, will welcome an international field for the tournament.

Sing Yin Lin, a 12-year-old from Dong Guanin, in Hong Kong, will compete in the 54-hole event on August 11-13, as will 13-year Liam van Deventer, from Gauteng, in South Africa.

Entries for the championship, which includes a girls’ tournament, close on July 27 and all players must have a CONGU handicap or its international equivalent.
