Halley finished on eight under (69 67 69) in the HotelPlanner.com PGA EuroPro Tour event, four shots behind winner James Wilkinson (Brampton), who shot a final-round 63.

Wilkinson began the day five off the lead, but went out in 31 with five birdies and four more more birdies at 11, 13, 14 and 15 followed. He dropped a shot at 17, but still secured the title.

Halley showed his mettle by coming back from a six at the par-4 second hole to fire seven birdies in 12 holes, notching three in a row and also a pair.

Oulton Hall’s Daniel Gavins shared 10th place and might have hoped for better when he was out in three under par, but he had two bogeys to just one birdie on the way in.

Abbeydale’s Tom Parry (70 65 72) had sat just two shots off the overnight lead. He made four birdies in a row from the 12th, but unfortunately by that stage he was already two over for the day, and he dropped one more at 17 to tie for 14th.

Moor Allerton’s Joe Heraty (69 72 68) tied for 19th with five birdies and two bogeys on his card, the last of these coming at the 18th which dropped him down two places.

James Maw tied for 50th place after rounds of 66 75 and 73, a double bogey at the last seeing him fall 13 places.
