RULES governing amateur status mean holes-in-one cannot be rewarded with a car, such as those on offer during the recent PGA Championship at Wentworth.
However, Leeds’s John Clarke does now boast an exclusive Boss watch after aceing the par-3 13th hole at Woodhall Hills, using a 5-iron.
Holes-in-one recorded during club competition in 2015 are on offer for the feat from the luxury German watch manufacturer, who have awarded more than £1m-worth of limited-edition timepieces since the scheme’s launch in 2013.
It is open to any competitor in a club competition whose club uses HowDidiDo, a free-to-use, web-based social network for golfers. Currently, more than 1,800 clubs use the website.
All official club competitions are recorded on the HowDidiDo system, so holes-in-one are noted and automatically ratified by the golfer’s club.
