Club - Drax GC: John Bednall edges Memorial Shield win and Alan Puddyford savours success in Seniors Cup

JOHN BEDNALL racked up an impressive 40pts to win the month’s major trophy at Drax GC, the Dennis Banks Memorial Shield.

Andy Hanks ran him a very close second but lost on countback.

Christopher Deakin continued his fine form of the previous month with a dominant win in the monthly medal thanks to a net 69.

Stephen Fitt showed a clean pair of heels to the field in the midweek medal with the Performance of the Month, a scorching net 66

In the ladies’ competitions, Denise Robinson won the monthly medal and the Marie Curie charity event.

The seniors’ section saw Matthew Forde lift the prestigious John Davies Shield on 39pts and Roger Elliot continued his successful season with a win in the medal (net 67).

Alan Puddyford finally lost his ‘bridesmaid tag’ with top spot in the Seniors Cup, amassing no fewer than 41pts.
