County: Yorkshire Veterans Ladies make it two wins out of three

Yorkshire Veterans Ladies won their second successive Northern England Richardson Trophy match by sweeping aside Northumberland 7-0 at Rotherham GC.

The first two matches had both been tight affairs – a 4-3 loss to Cheshire being followed by the same scoreline in Yorkshire’s favour against Lancashire.

Only two matches against Northumberland reached the 17th green, with Yorkshire champion Julie Wheeldon setting the tone for emphatic victories by beating her Northumberland counterpart Elaine Elliott 6&4.

Judy Butler was also victorious 6&4 while Pat Wrightson won 6&5, Karen Jobling 4&3, Sandra Paul 3&2, Carol Simpson 3&1 and Jackie Barraclough 2&1.

Yorkshire’s next game team is again at Rotherham, against Durham on July 14.
