Deposed Yorkshire end on winning note in Cheshire
YORKSHIRE ended Northern Counties Match week with a 6-3 win over Northumberland at Sandiway GC, Cheshire.
The title may have been prised from their grasp by Lancashire - who edged Cheshire 5-4 on the final day - but Jean Waring’s young side took second spot after four wins and just one loss to their successors.
Fulford’s Charlotte Austwick and Lees Hall’s Holly Morgan won their morning foursomes 3&2 and Cleckheaton’s Olivia Hamilton and Megan Clarke were even more emphatic victors, by 5&4.
The 2-1 morning advantage was turned into the overall 6-3 victory with singles wins from Woodsome Hall’s Rochelle Morris, Rotherham’s Olivia Winning, Morgan and Lightcliffe’s Hannah Holden.
