She dropped a shot at the fourth hole and also at the ninth, but in between had birdies at holes five and seven at the Buckinghamshire GC, Denham.

Her back nine saw her record consecutive birdies at the 14th and 15th holes and she moved up more than 50 places to make the cut.

Her two-round aggregate of 145 puts her a shot behind fellow Yorkshirewoman Rebecca Hudson, of Doncaster.

Hudson, who had shot 70 on the opening day, dropped early shots, at the second and fourth, but birdied the 5th before a long stretch of pars was unfortunately ended by a bogey at 16.

Nottingham’s Alex Peters shot a course record-equalling second round of nine-under-par 63 to lead.

At 11 under, the 21-year-old LET rookie is two strokes clear of compatriot Charley Hull, with first-round leader Sophie Giquel-Bettan of France a stroke further back on eight under.

Peters’s round of 63 matched the score previously recorded by Ashleigh Simon and Caroline Masson in the first round of the 2013 tournament. She birdied the second and third holes before posting seven birdies on the back nine to come home in 29 strokes, equalling the all-time record on the LET.
