Kealan Lowe is perched highest of Yorkshire entrants in Carris Trophy

WHEATLEY’S Kealan Lowe is the best-placed Yorkshire competitor going into the final round of the Carris Trophy at Little Aston GC in Staffordshire

Lowe is in a tie for 12th place after rounds of 74 73 73. In round three it was a case of famine or feast: after birdies at two and three he dropped shots at holes four, six, nine and 10.

Two more birdies were grabbed at 11 and 17, but he had a bogey to finish.

Moor Allerton’s Tom Murray (72 76 75) is sharing 22nd spot. He pulled back from four to two over with birdies at 14 and 15, but gave one back immediately at 16.

Charlie Thornton, of Fulford, and Nathan Fell (Lindrick) are tied 27th.

Thornton (77 74 73) had six birdies in his round, four of them on the back nine. He will rue his late stumble which saw him bogey 16 and double bogey 17, the latter his second such error after one at 13.

Fell (79 71 74) closed with a birdie, his second of the day, but also had four dropped shots, including three in four holes at the start of the back nine.

Hallamshire’s Alex Fitzpatrick, who was the White Rose standard bearer through 18 and 36 holes, tumbled to an 83 following rounds of 70 75 and is joint 39th.

His only birdie of the day came at the sixth and, unfortunately, his double bogey at the 410-yard par-4 eighth was not the ugliest blemish on his card.

Nor was another double bogey – at the 485-yard par-5 12th – a hole which he had birdied in rounds one and two.

For Fitzpatrick endured a quadruple bogey 9 at the 514-yard par-5 third.
