Lowe leads way for Yorkshire as Moore lifts Carris Trophy at Little Aston

WHEATLEY’S Kealan Lowe finished as the highest-placed Yorkshire competitor in the English boys’ open stroke play championship for the Carris Trophy at Little Aston GC in Staffordshire.

Keldestone Park’s Bradley Moore won by five shots (69 72 65 74).

Lowe had opened with rounds of 74 73 73 and closed with a 75 to tie for 15th place.

After a bogey at the first and a double at the fifth, Lowe ended his front nine with birdies at seven and nine.

He had one more birdie, at 14, but bogeys at 10 and 13.

Moor Allerton’s Tom Murray (72 76 75 73) shared 18th place. He birdied one and nine, but had a bogey at the fourth.

A second birdie came at the 11th, but he dropped three more shots on the run in.

Fulford’s Charlie Thornton (77 74 73 77) had six bogeys in his round and a solitary birdie and finished 26th equal.

Lindrick’s Nathan Fell (79 71 74 78) and Alex Fitzpatrick, of Hallamshire (70 75 83 74) tied 31st.

Fell had a double bogey and five singles before pencilling his only birdie of the day at the last.

Fitzpatrick bogeyed four of his first six holes, but ended the outward half well with birdies at seven and nine.

He came home in level par with two birdies and two bogeys.

George Muscroft, of Otley, placed 46th with rounds of 76 75 79 76. After bogeying the first he had 11 pars in a row before further dropped shots at 13, 14 and 18.
