Matthew Fitzpatrick reprises opening 69 in Lyoness Open in Austria

Sheffield’s Matthew Fitzpatrick produced a second consecutive 69 to sit in a tie for sixth spot in the Lyoness Open, albeit six shots behind leader Gregory Bourdy, of France.

The 20-year-old’s round at the Diamond Country Club in Atzenbrugg fell quiet after he dropped shots at the seventh and eighth holes having birdied the fourth.

But he was four under through holes 13 to 16, culminating with an eagle three at the latter.

Hull’s Richard Finch missed the cut after adding a 76 to his Thursday score of 73, five bogeys and a double bogey overwhelming his birdies at three, 13 and 15.

Russian Andrey Pavlov had a nightmare start to his second round after carding a 17 at the par-five first hole having found the water six times.

He eventually signed for an 18-over 90, having carded a one-under 71 in his opening round.
