Parry putting in the hard yards to pick up his game

John Parry would be forgiven for thinking he is suffering from second season syndrome.

The Harrogate GC member enjoyed a stellar campaign in his maiden year on the European Tour in 2010, capturing the Vivendi Cup in Paris and finishing in the top three in the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship.

He finished 51st on the Race to Dubai to seal a spot at the lucrative season ending Dubai World Championship.

However, the 24-year-old has failed to back up that form in his second season on the tour.

Indeed if it were not for the two-year exemption his Paris win earned him, he would be in danger of dropping back to the Challenge Tour next season.

Parry is 123rd on the money list – the top 115 earn cards for next season – going into today’s Singapore Open.

Parry has only one top-10 finish to his name and has missed the cut in 14 out of 39 tournaments.

But after a session with coach Mark Moore in Yorkshire, he says: “My iron play has been poor over the previous fortnight but after working with Mark it has been getting better since we arrived in Singapore,” said Parry.

Sheffield’s Danny Willett and Malton’s Simon Dyson, who is ninth on the Race to Dubai standings, are also in action.
