YLCGA President Heather Cawdry was at a windy Romiley to lend her support as Yorkshire battled for ultimate victory on a long and demanding course.

Several of the girls were down in their matches and had to show great determination and belief to turn things around.

Jess Smee won 3&2 against Lucy Jamieson, Hannah Eaton beat Kirsty McIntyre 2&1, and Woodsome Hall’s Charlotte Eastwood beat Victoria Turner 4&3.

Lees Hall’s Mia Eales Smith triumphed on the final green against Georgi Day and biggest winner of the match was Caroline Cronin, of Harrogate, who defeated Jess Morris 6&5.

York’s Emma Audsley had to retire injured on the 17th hole.

The second team take on Lancashire on Monday.
