Vice captains decide it is their day at Drax GC where Forde wins out

THE title of the competition at Drax GC was Captain’s Day, but Matthew Forde and David Smith seemed to find it a little confusing.

For the club’s senior vice captain Forde and vice captain Smith both battled to make it their day.

Ultimately it was Forde who took the captain’s main prize by just one point on 39 to Smith’s 38.

July’s monthly medal saw some familiar names atop the results sheet with Stephen Sutton and Roger Elliott being joined by a new name In Keith Beedham as they won, respectively, divisions one, two and three.

Chris Deakin continued his impressive return to Drax with victory in the midweek medal, joined by second division winner Mark Webster and the third division’s Tommy Jackson.

Webster also took top spot in the Rabbits Charity Shield, while serial trophy hunter Alan Puddyford won the Tigers’ Annual Shield on the same day.

The senior section saw Ken Onions reliving former glories with a well- earned win in the Cup competition, and the consistent Peter Rowbottom sealing the medal.
