Willett planning to keep place in ‘Race to Dubai’

The Yorkshire duo of Danny Willett and John Parry are hoping for their slice of the financial pie on offer in Turkey.

Sheffield’s Willett is in need of a good finish to ensure he preserves his place in the top 60 on the Race to Dubai standings, and, therefore, seal his spot in next week’s season-ending Dubai World Championship. Willett is currently 60th on the money list.

No matter what Harrogate’s Parry achieves in Turkey he will not qualify for Dubai, because those that reach the final event have to have played in at least two of the three subsequent tournaments that make up the new Final Series.

Nevertheless, being in an elite field of 78 players is just reward for a strong first season back on Tour by Parry.

Tiger Woods will play his first competitive golf in over a month at the Turkish Airlines Open.

The world No 1’s last meaningful action came in the United States’ successful defence of the President’s Cup at the start of October, since when the 14-time major winner has elected to collect a sizeable appearance fee for a challenge match with Rory McIlroy in China and make exhibition appearances in Singapore and Macau.
