Yorkshire Boys storm to Roses victory at Ashton under Lyne

YORKSHIRE Boys never looked back after dominating the foursomes as they beat their Lancashire counterparts at Ashton Under Lyne.

The morning encounters saw the White Rose visitors put their hosts to the sword, 6-0, with a 3&1 win by Middlesbrough’s James Swash and Elliott Brown (Hallamshire) their least emphatic result.

Three pairings – Matthew Roberts (Fulford) and Dan Bradbury (Wakefield), Will Eardley (Pannal) and Charlie Daughtrey (Rotherham), and Barclay Brown (Hallamshire) and Callum MacFie (Lindrick) romped home 5&4.

Yorkshire’s remaining partnerships of Hessle’s Joe Allenby and Wakefield’s George Heath, plus Dan Clark-Coates (Otley) and Michael Hay (Hunley Hall) were even swifter, winning 5&3.

In the singles, Bradbury and Heath were beaten, but their 10 team-mates were all victorious, Eardley, with a 7&5 win, and MacFie, 6&5, the most decisive.
