Gill, who triumphed in a 120-strong field that included players from 10 different countries, was quick to give praise tohis father for his support.

“My dad has given me the opportunity to play golf full-time, which is something I will be forever grateful for,” said Gill, who earlier this season placed sixth in the Duncan Putter at Southerndown.

“This has allowed me to practice or play basically every day, which is something you need to do if you want to make a career out of golf.”

He also thanked Lindrick professional John King, who has been coaching him for the last four years, physiotherapist Paul Farquarson and Lindrick. “The facilities at Lindrick are fantastic and have no doubt played a massive role over my improvement over the last few years,” he added.
