THE state-of–the-art golf teaching and fitting academy run by former Yorkshire champion and captain Iain Mackenzie, iGolfStudio, has become a major sponsor of the Sheffield Union.

iGolfStudio will be the headline sponsor of the union’s awards night next month as well as supporting the body throughout the 2016 season.

The studio, situated at Sheffield Business Park, is designed to help golfers of all abilities improve their game though swing analysis, teaching, training and precision club fitting.

Mackenzie said: “I enjoyed my time representing Sheffield and Yorkshire on the golf course and now is the time to put something back into the game I love.

“The Sheffield Union has produced some fantastic players over the years, and I hope our sponsorship will enable it to continue its good work in developing raw talent in a competitive environment.”

Daran Johnson, President of the Sheffield Union, said: “Sponsorship enables us to continue to seek out up-and-coming talent and to provide the support players need to develop their skills.

“We appreciate the support of iGolfStudio and our other sponsors.”

The Union’s other main sponsors include Special Steels, IFM Insurance and the Peter Cowen Golf Academy Junior Tour.

PGA professional Tom Johnson works with Mackenzie at iGolfStudio and provides lessons and club fitting, although by arrangement players are able to take their own coaches.

Mackenzie, also a past Sheffield Amateur champion, represented the Sheffield Union more than 100 times and was Yorkshire champion in 1977 and 1980; he played 135 times for the county.
