Yorkshire golf: Hallamshire pair Fitzpatrick and Brown tee it up for England against Scotland

HALLAMSHIRE GC duo Alex Fitzpatrick and Barclay Brown have been selected to represent England against Scotland at Dalmahoy in this weekend’s Under-16 boys’ international.

Dalmahoy will stage singles and foursomes on Saturday followed by another singles session on Sunday.

The same team, with the exception of Flanagan and Kelly, will play Ireland in the final match of the series at Templepatrick on the weekend of October 10-11. That match will consist of foursomes and betterball on the first day and a singles session on the second.

Sixteen-year-old Fitzpatrick placed third recently in the Italian Under-16 championship and was fifth at the McGregor Trophy after equalling the course record at Wallasey in his final round, with six-under-par 66.

Fourteen-year-old Brown was fourth in the English Under-16 boys’ championship and fifth in the North of England Under-16 stroke play. This summer he became the youngest winner of the Sheffield Open amateur – taking the record from European Tour player Danny Willett.

The team also includes three members of the side which defeated Wales 11-9 in the first match of the series: Angus Flanagan (Surrey), Harry Goddard (Hertfordshire) and Luke Kelly (Lancashire).

The other members of the team are Jack Ainscough (Durham), Jake Benson (Nottinghamshire), Toby Briggs (Norfolk), Ben Jones (Northamptonshire) and Charlie Strickland (Sussex).
