“This was the last match of the season for the second team, and it has been a privilege to be the captain of the team,” said Dawn Clegg.

“I would like to thank them for their commitment. I have got to know the girls well and wish them every success for their futures.”

Despite very recent work on the course, it played well with the greens providing a particularly good test.

“The team played well and some excellent golf was displayed,” added Clegg.

“The two matches lost, we were playing against some very experienced Yorkshire Veterans Ladies Golf Association pairings and the girls were only losing holes to birdies.”

Yorkshire second team’s victories came courtesy of Laura Morrison and Jessica Smee, who beat Julie Wheeldon and Carol Simpson two up, and Georgina Hirst and Chloe Hartley, who defeated Louise Secker and Helen Duckett 4&2.

Ensuring honours finished even were veterans pairings Karen Jobling and Val Swales, 5&4 winners against Abigail Smee and Georgia Holden, and Judy Butler and Jackie Barraclough, victors by the same margin against Toni Louise Naylor and Harriet Richardson.
