Yorkshire trio finish in top 12 at Moortown GC as India’s Ashok lifts British title

THREE Yorkshire players tied for 12th place as 17-year-old Aditi Ashok, from Bangalore, India, won the British ladies’ open amateur stroke play championship at Moortown GC.

Woodsome Hall’s Rochelle Morris, Hickleton’s Alison Knowles and Megan Garland, of Selby, all finished on plus five.

Morris saved her best for last, carding four birdies in a closing 71 to add to her earlier scores of 78 74 78.

Knowles had six birdies on the final day and showed great consistency, recording scores of 75 75 75 76.

Garland began the day with an eagle three at the 454-yard par-5 first hole, her second eagle of the week, and shot 76 72 76 77.

Her Selby club-mate Ellie Goodall finished tied 26th (75 77 80 76) and Cleckheaton’s Olivia Hamilton was tied 28th (77 77 74 82).

​Ashok won comfortably, shooting 71 73 70 71 to finish five clear of runner-up Olivia Mehaffey (Royal County Down) who carded 73 75 71 71.
