Yorkshire triumph comfortably at Cleveland against Northumberland thanks to emphatic singles display

YORKSHIRE made it three wins and a half in their four EGU Northern Counties matches with a 12-6 defeat of Northumberland at Cleveland.

Darryl Berry’s men had just a one-point lead from the morning’s foursomes.

But they took the singles 8.5-3.5 with eight wins and a half.

Singles winners were Will Whiteoak (Shipley), Kealan Lowe (Wheatley), Luke Robinson (Hornsea), Ben Brewster (Bawtry), Martin Brown (Pike Hills), Alex Fitzpatrick (Hallamshire), Jamie Harrison (Rotherham) and Jack Lampkin (Ilkley), the latter’s an overwhelming 7&6 triumph.

Wath’s Nick Poppleton halved his singles outing.

Lampkin did not get to see a hole beyond the 13th at Cleveland as he had teamed up with Harrison to win 7&5 in the anchor foursomes.

Whiteoak and Lowe put behind them their foursomes defeat by both winning their singles by an emphatic 5&3 margin.
