Hawk Mountain rested

John Quinn's Hawk Mountain will go straight for the totesport.com Cesarewitch at Newmarket on October 16 without another run.

The five-year-old, owned by TV presenters Nick Luck and Paul Morrison, bounced back to form with an authoritative success in a decent handicap over two miles at York.

The 20-1 shot with the sponsors will be going into new territory in the Cesarewitch over two-and-a-quarter miles, with Quinn confident he will get into the race.

"I'm very pleased with him, he's very well," said Malton-based Quinn. "He'll go straight to the Cesarewitch now.

"He's not guaranteed to get in, but in past years he would get a run off his mark, he'd have got in last year and the year before. I'd rather wait and give him every chance and go straight there rather than rush another run into him to make sure he gets in.

"He looked right back to his old self at York. He stayed on really well so we are really pleased with him."
