Caldy held a 10-point advantage over Otley, who had a game in hand.

The platform for the win was built on a first-half performance which included tries from captain Stephen Depledge and lock Jack Scott-Paul.

Caldy pulled back a penalty after the interval but they were hit by Otley’s third try when flanker Matt Heaton crossed.

Caldy posed a few problems for Otley’s defence towards the end when they pulled back a converted try but the visitors held on to make sure of the win.

Tom Harvey was sent off for stamping in the last 15 minutes but Harrogate held on for a 27-23 win at Chester.

Harrogate prevailed through forward superiority and better goal-kicking even though they lost Matt Lansddall (hamstring) in the pre-match warm-up.

Callum Irvine’s early try was converted by Lewis Minikin before Chester’s Rhys Hayes kicked a penalty.

Willem Enslin drove over and Minikin’s touchline conversion made it 14-3 and Sam Bottomley burst through for the third try.

Tries either side of the break from Josh Wilson and Sean Green put Chester back in it but Minikin added a penalty.

Harvey’s departure led to Adam King but from the restart, Noel Minikin stripped the ball from the defender to sprint clear and score. King scored his second try to earn Chester a second bonus point.

Huddersfield went close at second-placed Stourbridge but had to settle for a losing bonus point as they went down 25-19.

The rock-bottom visitors made a blistering start with a penalty from fly-half Chris Bell, who converted a try by second-row Nick Rhodes. Stourbridge hit back with a converted try but Huddersfield added two consecutive penalties.

The visitors quickly conceded a penalty and a converted try to be 17-16 down after the break. A penalty from Bell put his side ahead but with 10 minutes left the hosts struck a penalty and completed the scoring with a try.

A late try ended up costing Sandal as they slipped to a 26-20 defeat at Sale.

Sandal are without a win in seven and they were 10-0 down to a penalty and converted try before the break. They hit back with a try from No 8 Sam Whittingham when Sale were down to 14 men and then drew level with a penalty from Greg Wood.

Sandal went ahead following a charge-down which fell for centre Dave Martin to run in. Two penalties pulled Sale within a point, though, and centre Chris Mayor crossed for the winning try.

Sandal added a penalty 10 minutes from the end but could not find the try they needed.
