Hickstead goal for Doncaster's undefeated star

TOMMY TUCKER has been putting his best foot forward in the show ring this season with astonishing success.

So far this season he has won eight lightweight cob classes and then gone on to win the championship in all eight classes.

His owner, Janet Platt from Huby near York, is thrilled but keeping her fingers doubly crossed for this weekend when she will be watching him compete at the Royal International Horse Show at Hickstead.

Tommy is ridden and produced by Charles le Moignan from Misterton, Doncaster, and was already very successful when Janet bought him at the end of last season.

She has had show horses for many years and when her heavyweight hunter was put to sleep last year she had the opportunity to buy Tommy.

"The best of cobs are always those with huge personalities, cocky forward-going chaps who thoroughly enjoy life and give their riders enormous pleasure, qualities that Tommy possesses in abundance," says Janet.

Tommy has also qualified for the Horse of the Year Show in October.

The event is being organised by Sue Rodgers from Cawood, Selby, who says: "As horse riders we should support this vital service but often it is only when faced with a horrible situation that we think about these services."
