Moviesta switch to boost Group One ambition

TOP sprinter Moviesta has left the care of North Yorkshire trainer Bryan Smart to start the new season in Ireland with Eddie Lynam.

A Group Two winner in 2013, his best performance last year came in the Prix de l’Abbaye at Longchamp where he was beaten only two heads into third.

He was also only a length behind Sole Power in the Nunthorpe at York and given his regular battles with that rival, Moviesta’s owners know only too well how good Lynam is with sprinters.

Ritchie Fiddes, who owns Moviesta along with former Harry Redknapp and Will Salthouse, said: “We’ve been coming up against Eddie for a few years now and we have huge respect for him.

“What he has done with Sole Power and Slade Power has been fantastic and our aim is to win a Group One with Moviesta, we certainly think he’s capable.

“He’s only five - he should be coming to his peak as a sprinter - and if he manages to win a Group One at home we’d like to take him abroad.

“The most important thing is that Paul Mulrennan keeps the ride as he gets on so well with him.”

Moviesta was last seen finishing 14th of 16 in a five-furlong sprint at Meydan in March.

He was first reserve for the Al Quoz Sprint on World Cup night, won by Sole Power, but not did get a run.
