Huddersfield coach Brown makes future u-turn

HUDDERSFIELD coach Nathan Brown plotted the downfall of Celtic Crusaders and then revealed he had decided on Friday to remain with the Engage Super League club.

The 36-year-old Australian has done a U-turn on his earlier intention to leave, and will now see out his three-year contract to the end of the 2011 season.

Following the 30-12 win Brown said: "The decision was made on Friday night, and I'm happy to be staying.

"There were some possibilities elsewhere that were discussed. But the decision to stay has been made, and it's the right one.

"What's changed is some family issues are not there any more. My wife was ill, but that's not the case now, and the children are settled in school here."

He added: "We've had a period this season where things have been a bit up and down. But we've taken five out of the last eight points, and we seem to be coming back into form.

"Crusaders are an improving side who have had some big wins against some big teams. They can score tries, and have some players who can be unpredictable. I think to limit them to 12 points is quite good."

Giants youngster Jermaine McGillvary was the star man, with two tries. The academy product has recently signed a three-and-a-half-year contract after impressing on loan at Batley this season.

Huddersfield also scored through Shaun Lunt, Stephen Wild, Michael Lawrence and Kevin Brown.

Crusaders got consolations through Jarrod Sammut and Weller Hauraki and disappointed coach Brian Noble said: "It was a frustrating afternoon.

"We'd shown enough wherewithal to get into the right positions to score tries. We were back in it at 20-12, but then some calls went against us.

"The effort was great, but I thought our kicking was poor. It cost us too many field positions."
